<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity are two socially significant diseases, the prevalence of which has now assumed pandemic proportions. Obesity, as a rule, precedes the development of type 2 diabetes, being the most powerful risk factor for the development of this disease. In patients with obesity and type 2 diabetes with a BMI &gt;35 kg/m2, bariatric surgery is recommended if glycemic control cannot be achieved after several attempts at non-surgical treatment of obesity. There is no doubt the effectiveness of bariatric surgery not only in the treatment of obesity, but also in achieving remission of type 2 diabetes. It seems relevant to study the predictors of achieving remission of type 2 diabetes, as well as factors that can worsen the prognosis. The purpose of the review: to study the effectiveness of metabolic surgery in achieving remission of type 2 DM, as well as predictors of remission of type 2 DM in obese patients after bariatric surgery.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>бариатрия</kwd><kwd>сахарный диабет</kwd><kwd>ремиссия сахарного диабета 2 типа</kwd><kwd>ГПП-1</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>bariatrics</kwd><kwd>diabetes mellitus</kwd><kwd>remission of type 2 diabetes mellitus</kwd><kwd>GLP-1</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Дедов И.
